Descripcion:
We are looking for field assistants for a project investigating the communicative roles of pelage colouration in all-body sexually dichromatic primate. The study will be conducted on Isla Brasilera, small island on the Parana River, and in the Corrientes Biological Research Field Station (EBCo), both located in the province of Corrientes, Northern Argentina. The work of the field assistant will include behavioural data collection as well as faecal sample collection for hormone and genetic analyses, assistance with digital photography and field experiments.
Qualifications/Experience:
Bachelor in zoology, biology, ecology or any other relevant field is required.
The language in our team will be Spanish and English; therefore basic fluency in both is required.
Previous field experience is most welcome but not required.
Experience of working in tropical conditions under demanding physical exercise is most helpful as monkeys are followed from dawn to dusk (about 12h a day; 5 days a week) in primary and flooded forests.
In general, applicants should be physically fit, mentally strong, with good social skills and ability to work independently. They should feel comfortable living under basic conditions and being away from family/friends, and they should be able to maintain a positive attitude towards hard and tiring work.

Support provided (travel, meals, lodging):
Funding covers accommodation, food and travel expenses within Argentina (to and from the field site).
Term of Appointment:
A minimum of 6 month commitment is required, starting from 1st JULY 2013, but a longer duration of stay is preferred, ideally 12 months. Please contact us if you can begin later than July 2013.
